Pirelli retains F1 tyre supply for 2017-19

Pirelli will continue as tyre supplier for the Formula 1 World Championship from 2017 until the end of the 2019 season, it has been confirmed. The Italian firm, which took over from Bridgestone as the official control supplier from 2011, had been in contention with Michelin for the latest tender, which is due to run between 2017 and 2019. However, as expected, FOM and the FIA have favoured retaining ties with Pirelli after Michelin's pitch for creating tyres that favour durability was not favourably received by the commercial rights holder.
