Sainz hopes to race in Russia

Red Bull/Getty Images Carlos Sainz Jr says he hopes to be able to participate in the Russian Grand Prix, following his high-speed crash during Saturday's final practice session. Sainz hit the wall on the approach to Turn 13 and careered straight on, with his STR10 submerging beneath the barriers. Sainz was placed on a stretcher and transported to the medical centre, after which he was airlifted to hospital. Sainz was conscious and talking throughout the process and wants to take part in Sunday's race. "As you can see I am fine," he said.
