Sainz Jr. airlifted to hospital for checks

– Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz Jr. has been airlifted to hospital for medical checks following his high-speed crash during final practice for the Russian Grand Prix at Sochi Autodrom.Sainz Jr. lost control under braking for Turn 13, initially clipping the concrete wall to the left, before sliding straight into the Tech Pro barriers, which buried the front half of his car.Race Control quickly red flagged the session, as marshals and medical crews attended Sainz Jr., before the decision was taken to abandon proceedings with 15 minutes left on the clock.Sainz Jr. was later placed in an ambulance bound for the circuit's medical centre, during which world feed television pictures showed the...
