Sainz conscious after crash

oro Rosso driver Carlos Sainz has been taken to the medical centre at the Russian GP after suffering a big crash in final practice. The Spanish driver was involved in a head-on collision with the barriers at Turn 13, with his car burying itself in the Tecpro barriers, with are designed to take the force of an accident. The FIA has confirmed that Sainz is conscious, with TV pictures showing the 21-year-old giving the thumbs-up as he was stretchered away from the scene of an accident. The Spaniard was placed in an ambulance and taken to the circuit's medical centre where he is currently being checked over by doctors. Initial reports suggest he has escaped serious injury.
