Russian GP: Practice halted after big Sainz accident
Carlos Sainz has suffered a big accident during final practice for the Russian Grand Prix. The crash took place with 20 minutes of the final practice session remaining at the Sochi circuit. It appears that Sainz hit the left-hand side wall on the approach to Turn 13 and speared straight off the track head first in to the TechPro barriers. His car ended up underneath the barriers and marshals and medical crews were quickly on the scene. His condition is unknown, with the team reporting that his car had lost power so there was no radio communications.
