Massa fastest as rain affects second session

Williams Martini Racing Williams’ Felipe Massa set the quickest time during a low-key rain-affected second practice session ahead of the Russian Grand Prix. A shower drenched the circuit shortly before the start of the session and the water was slow to shift, leaving only eight drivers posting nominal times across the 90 minutes. Massa was the last driver to cross the line and clocked a 2:00.458, two-tenths clear of Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Williams team-mate Valtteri Bottas. Max Verstappen had been quickest until a late flurry of times, while Fernando Alonso was the only driver to brave the conditions early on.
