Pirelli hoping for two to three stops

Pirelli believes that their decision to go with their softest tyre combination for this year's Russian GP will lead to more pit stops. The Italian manufacturer opted for the medium and soft rubber at least year's inaugural race as they were worried about wear and degradation at the brand new Sochi track. However, those fears were unfounded as the majority of drivers completed the race with a one-stop strategy with Nico Rosberg actually able to do 52 laps on the medium tyres after he was forced to visit the pits on the opening lap. As a result, Pirelli has gone for the soft and supersoft compounds and motorsport director Paul Hembery says they are hopeful drivers will stop at least twice...
