Mansell: ‘I could match Hamilton's lap times'

Former Formula One world champion Nigel Mansell has claimed that he would be able to do identical lap times to current championship leader Lewis Hamilton. The 1992 Formula One champion believes that he could set similar lap times to Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton if he allowed some training time. Speaking on BBC Radio as part of the promotion of his new autobiography, Mansell was asked: If he had four weeks to practice in Lewis Hamilton’s car, how fast could he drive it and how competitive could he be in a race? “I’d get very close to his time, if not do an identical time,” said the 62-year-old. “I won’t be bold and say that (I’d) maybe go a little bit quicker.
