Renault edges closer to Lotus takeover

Lotus F1 Team Renault has edged closer to a full-scale Formula 1 return after signing a letter of intent to claim a controlling stake in the Lotus team. Renault has been heavily linked to a takeover of the Enstone-based squad and has now confirmed that is working on a return ahead of the 2016 campaign. "Renault Group and Gravity Motorsports S.a.r.l., an affiliate of Genii Capital SA, are pleased to announce the signature of a Letter of Intent regarding the potential acquisition by Renault of a controlling stake in Lotus F1 Team Ltd," read a statement.
