Ricciardo: Safety cars scuppered win hopes

Daniel Ricciardo believes the two safety-cars in the Singapore Grand Prix “dictated the race” and cost him any chance of challenging Sebastian Vettel for the victory. Ricciardo took his best result of the season on Sunday, when he brought his Red Bull home in second place, just 1.4s behind Vettel, but felt the fact the safety car periods came towards the end of the stints, ultimately cost him the chance to get the undercut during the pit stops. “I think that [the safety cars] dictated the race really,” Ricciardo said. “I am not saying there were any guarantees but in the first stint we were coming on quite strong – and it was obvious Seb pushed pretty hard at the beginning to...
