Hamilton: I had the pace to win

Lewis Hamilton believes he had the pace to win the Singapore Grand Prix, after the championship leader retired from the race with a power unit problem. With Mercedes struggling throughout practice and qualifying, the British driver started fifth. He maintained his position early on but moved ahead of Daniil Kvyat in the pit stops. On lap 26 he reported a loss of power and quickly dropped down the field, eventually retiring on lap 32. Mercedes said the issue was a loss of boost pressure caused by the failure of a clamp between the intercooler and plenum. 'The race was going very well,' he said.
