Pirelli to define "clearer procedure" for tyre use

Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli says it will define a clearer procedure regarding tyre usage following the Italian Grand Prix controversy. Lewis Hamilton's victory at Monza was placed in doubt when the stewards were asked to investigate if his Mercedes team had broken the rules as a result of finding one of his tyres below the minimum pressure recommended by Pirelli before the start of the race. In the end, however, it was found Mercedes had operated within the rules and Hamilton kept the win. Mercedes said after the race it would welcome a tighter protocol to avoid further confusion.
