Merhi drops out of Formula Renault

Manor driver Roberto Merhi has decided his time in the Formula Renault 3.5 series is over. Merhi was competing in the series in-between his Formula 1 commitments for Manor but was struggling this year. He placed only 12th overall in the standings, a far cry from last year’s 3rd place altogether when he was fighting with now Toro Rosso driver Carlos Sainz Jr. Merhi’s Manor contract was initially for the opening rounds of the championship, but he’s managed to compete at every grand prix that Manor have raced in this season and has only missed 2 Formula Renault races.
