Max Verstappen slapped with penalties after qualifying calamity

Italian Grand Prix – Max Verstappen has been permitted to start the Italian Grand Prix at the steward's discretion. However, he has been hit with penalties after his engine cover flew off during the session. Verstappen was embarking on his first run in Q1 when his engine cover flew off out on track. This gave photographers and interested rival team members the chance to look at Renault's engine packaging, but the FIA were not amused. The Dutch driver had already been hit with a 20 place grid penalty after Toro Rosso fitted his car with a new engine after FP3.
