Maldonado caused own DNF with 17G impact

– Pastor Maldonado caused his own retirement from last weekend's Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps with a sizeable 17G impact over kerbs, Lotus has revealed.Maldonado went off track at Eau Rouge, damaging the clutch control valve, which led to a loss of power and a seventh retirement from this season's 11 races."He had a big excursion at Eau Rouge and hit some kerbs very hard which gave the chassis a 17G impact," explained Lotus Technical Director Nick Chester."That looks to have effectively knocked the power off the car and, although he managed to get the power back on, it looks like we might have damaged the clutch control valve."Even though we may have...
