Whiting: Starts should place emphasis on drivers

– Formula 1 Race Director Charlie Whiting says the sport's new start rules, which will come into force in the Belgian Grand Prix, were required to put the emphasis back on drivers, rather than engineers.From Sunday's race at Spa-Francorchamps, engineers will be banned from giving their drivers advice about optimal start settings as soon as they leave the garage and head to the starting grid.Speaking exclusively to GPUpdate.net, Whiting expressed his view that engineers have played too much of a role in starts in recent seasons, and that changes to the regulations were needed."It was an engineer's fault if there was a bad start, and we want to make it the drivers' fault," he...
