McLaren handed 105-place grid penalty

McLaren has been handed a record-breaking 105-place grid penalty for the Belgian Grand Prix thanks to the double engine change for Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button. Honda has made the most of a change in the rules that limits penalties for engine changes to use two all-new power units for the Spa-Francorchamps weekend. One new specification engine was fitted in both cars for Friday practice while the second power unit was fitted ahead of Saturday practice. The new engines that were fitted on Friday had already resulted in Alonso getting a 30-place grid penalty while Button had earned a 25-place grid penalty.
