No extra new teams for 2016/17

Red Bull/Getty Images The FIA has confirmed that there will be no further new teams entering the sport in either 2016 or 2017. Earlier this year Formula 1's governing body opened up a tender process for hopeful applicants to register an interest in joining the grid, either in 2016 or 2017. But no request has been successful, meaning that Haas F1 Team will be the only new squad to join the sport next season. Haas' original entry was confirmed in early 2014 for 2015, but team owner Gene Haas opted to delay the outfit's debut for a further year. Haas will be the first new team to enter the sport since the FIA accepted HRT, Virgin Racing and Lotus Racing to join the grid in 2010.
