Summer shutdown: The insider view – Force India

August is a weird month in the world of Formula One. The season reaches its mid-point: the hierarchies are established, the battles for the title and the various championship positions are starting to heat up and teams are busy launching upgrades. And then it stops. The summer shutdown, introduced to create a mandatory break for everyone involved in the sport, is a slightly anticlimactic beast, interrupting the show just when you are getting more and more gripped to it: it's like an end-of-series cliffhanger for your favourite TV show. The break is not kind on the fans, who may relish the idea of spending their hot summer weekends watching on-track action: but it sure is a welcome concept...
