FIA retire car number 17

Hungarian Grand Prix – The FIA have announced that they are to retire car number 17, out of respect for Jules Bianchi. Bianchi was assigned the Number 17 at the start of the 2014 season when the decision was taken to assign numbers to drivers for their careers. Bianchi initially applied for numbers 7, 17 & 77, but was unable to land any of these due to Kimi Raikkonen, Nico Hulkenberg & Valtteri Bottas all being ahead of him in the queue. Instead, he was assigned Number 17. The number became synonymous with Bianchi over the next 18 months, with the French driver using the hashtag #JB17 for promotion and marketing purposes.
