Ferrari had Bianchi lined up as Raikkonen replacement

Jules Bianchi was destined to take Kimi Raikkonen’s seat at Ferrari once the Finn parted with the team, says former president Luca di Montezemolo. Bianchi, who passed away on Friday night from injuries he suffered in an accident at the Japanese Grand Prix, was the first name to join the Scuderia’s driver academy at the end of 2009. Ferrari supported the Frenchman’s career, as he progressed through GP2 and Formula Renault 3.5 on route to a Formula 1 seat with Marussia in 2013.
