Sochi organisers pleased with date change

Red Bull/Getty Images Organisers of the Russian Grand Prix say that the change in the scheduling of the race from next year will boost the event. Formula 1 raced at the Sochi Autodrom for the first time last October and 2015's event will take place on the corresponding weekend later this year. From next year, Russia's race will take place on May 1, and organisers say that hosting the sport in the Spring should aid the event. "We welcome the decision of the World Motor Sport Council, and we hope that in December our race will finally adopted on that date," Sochi organiser Sergei Vorobyov told motorsport.com.
