New stricter start controls revealed by FIA
As expected as part of the overhaul of F1 revealed in the build-up to the British Grand Prix, the FIA has clarified the restrictions that will be put in place from the Belgian Grand Prix at the end of August. In a bid to limit how much outside influence can be exerted on race starts, and to put the onus back onto the drivers, the requirements of Article 20.1 of the F1 Sporting Regulations will be more strictly applied, via a series of restrictions imposed by the governing body. According to a technical directive, seen by Crash.net and issued to the teams, clutch bite point and pit-to-car communications will all be controlled from Spa onwards, with 'any other message at these times …...
