Vandoorne: My place in F1 isn't guaranteed

Despite scything his way through the GP2 field this year in a bid for the feeder series' title, McLaren youngster Stoffel Vandoorne acknowledges that even a convincing championship might not guarantee his place in Formula One in 2016. 'Even if I win this championship this season there is no guarantee I will be in F1 next year,' Vandoorne said. 'It has always been a very competitive sport, and there have always been drivers that have done well and not gotten to F1.' However, the Woking outfit has made it clear to the Belgian the importance of his securing the GP2 title for his further development with the side.
