Raikkonen: Intermediate change ‘three or four laps too early’

Kimi Raikkonen finished eighth at Silverstone, but felt his race was compromised early by the fast starting Nico Hulkenberg and then by a tyre change call that was a few laps premature. The Scuderia Ferrari driver dropped to sixth at the start, and gambled on an early stop for intermediate Pirelli tyres when the conditions were better suited for dries. When it did become wet enough, Raikkonen had used up the best of his tyre and was forced to pit again for a new set. “In the early part of the race we were stuck behind Hulkenberg’s Force India,” revealed Raikkonen. “They were too fast on the straight and in the places you could pass, while we lacked some speed.
