“Wild card” teams pick their own tyres from 2016 F1
Following last month meeting, Strategy Group confirmed that the target was to produce faster and more impressive cars from 2017 onward with a return to refuelling among the key steps. This week's Silverstone, Strategy Group meeting was the next step on that lane, F1 tyre provider Pirelli has accept the F1 Strategy Group’s move to free up the tyre rules from 2016. While the facts have yet to be finalized, a move is planned towards ‘wild cards’ – teams will now be able to make their own choice from the tire range at certain events. Last May, Force India's Chief Operating Officer Otmar Szafnauer suggested that, teams’ wants to pick their own tyre compounds for each Grand Prix....
