P1: Rosberg pips Hamilton
Nico Rosberg rebounded from an early Mercedes car breakdown to pip team-mate Lewis Hamilton to the fastest time in Practice One for the British GP. Rosberg, the session's initial pacesetter, pulled up onto the grass on his fifth lap of the morning at a sun-kissed Silverstone with a hydraulics leak in his W06's gearbox. It initially appeared as though the German would be forced out of the remainder of the session, but Mercedes' engineers impressively managed to replace the unit inside an hour to get Rosberg back out circuit for the final six minutes of the session.
