Hamilton takes pole in bizarre Q3 session – Qualifying Report
Lewis Hamilton has taken pole position for Sunday's Austrian Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver was on provisional pole position in the closing minute when both Mercedes drivers made errors on their final flying laps. Sebastian Vettel takes third place for Ferrari.
_ Q1: The treacherously wet conditions of FP3 had dissipated away to mere dampness at the start of the first part of qualifying. Intermediate tyres were the order of the day as the drivers came out on track to get a feel for the circuit, but conditions remained tricky – this was evidenced by hairy moments for the likes of Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen as they struggled with keeping their cars pointing the right way.
