Michelin confirms desire to supply F1

Michelin has confirmed that it is interested in returning to F1 as sole tyre supplier in 2017. The French manufacturer confirmed its desire on Twitter, stating: 'We have submitted our F1 proposal to the FIA 18 inch of course and #drivetothemaxtire for the driver pleasure.' Currently, Pirelli is the sole tyre supplier, the Italian manufacturer halfway through its second three-year stint which concludes at the end of next season. Crucial to Michelin's return to F1, having left at the end of 2006, is the move to 18 inch low profile tyres, which, while the French manufacturer insists will benefit the sport - and tie-in with the tyres it already supplies to Formula E and WEC, Pirelli insists...
