Hulkenberg claims Le Mans win on debut
Porsche Motorsport Nico Hulkenberg secured victory on his debut at the Le Mans 24 Hours as he shared duties with Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber to return Porsche to the top step of the podium after 17 years. Hulkenberg, Tandy and Bamber piloted the #19 Porsche 919 and took the lead in the ninth hour having been part of a four-way scrap before rivals hit problems. The #17 Porsche was handed a drive through penalty for overtaking under yellow flags while the #7 and #9 Audi were hit by suspected hybrid problems. That cleared the path for Hulkenberg, Tandy and Bamber to ease the car home, ensuring a maiden LMP1 win for all three while Hulkenberg became the first active Formula 1 driver to win Le...
