Alonso: McLaren braced for midfield battle
McLaren Honda Fernando Alonso says that McLaren is likely to qualify in the mid-pack at the Canadian Grand Prix and doubts that huge gains in positions can be made this weekend. Alonso was 15th fastest in the second session at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and is aware that the characteristics of the track do not play to McLaren's current strengths. "The rain didn’t affect too much our FP2 programme today, as we could go through most of it in the first part of the session," he said. "Overall, then, it’s been an interesting Friday.
