Daniel Ricciardo: “I knew we were in a position to attack”

Daniel Ricciardo finished fifth in the Monaco Grand Prix, handing fourth place back to his team-mate Daniil Kvyat on the final lap as part of an agreement after the Australian was allowed to pass the Russian driver in an attempt to take a podium finish. The Infiniti Red Bull Racing driver closed the gap to Lewis Hamilton ahead of him but could not get close enough to overtake the reigning World Champion, so conceded the place back to Kvyat in the closing stages. He also managed to escape a penalty from the stewards despite forcing the Scuderia Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen wide at Mirabeau after touching the Finnish driver’s rear wheel while making an overtaking manoeuvre. “It was a good...
