Lauda upset with ‘unacceptable’ Mercedes mistake
Niki Lauda says he has instructed Toto Wolff to analyse the process that led to Lewis Hamilton erroneously pitting the closing stages of the Monaco Grand Prix, costing him a certain win. Hamilton pitted under the safety car with 14 laps remaining despite h aving track advantage, the Briton re-emerging behind Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel, whom he couldn't pass again when racing resumed. A blunder that left Hamilton distraught on the podium as his team-mate took the spoils and closed the gap in the standings, Mercedes' Wolff has accepted blame for the miscalculation.
