Verstappen blames tyres after qualifying 10th

Max Verstappen says that he couldn't get his tyres to switch on, costing him a potentially higher starting position. The Toro Rosso rookie qualified 10th, while team-mate Sainz took 8th. Verstappen was one of the stars of Thursday practice after challenging the Mercs & Ferraris during FP1, but FP3 didn't go the Dutchman's way. He spun at the halfway point of the session, damaging the rear wing of his car and meaning he missed out on the last half of the session. 'I locked the front wheel, and then I got some rear lock, so I spun and managed to crash backwards into the wall.' he explained afterwards.
