Ricciardo: 'Engine mode error cost us third place'
Daniel Ricciardo says an error of communication with his team cost him third place on the grid. The Australian driver lines up in 4th spot for tomorrow's Monaco Grand Prix. 'I was in the wrong engine mode, suddenly they told me to make a standard change but at the start of the lap I could feel the power was down so I turned it back to what it was, but it was too late.' said Ricciardo after the session. 'Before Turn 1, I was already two tenths down and that was that. It was all a bit late, usually I'd get the calls for changes around Turn 16 and that was fine, I'd have enough time.
