Mercedes pounds on, McLaren progresses in Barcelona test

Lotus' reserve driver Jolyon Palmer led the times on the second and final day of the in-season test at Barcelona on Wednesday but was well clear from the benchmark set by Mercedes from the preceding day. Palmer was 1.7 seconds slower than Nico Rosberg's quickest time from Tuesday with the Mercedes only second fastest in the hands of Pascal Wehrlein, who returned following his bout of flu that sidelined him from his outing with Force India on day one.
