DC: F1 needs to up the pace

David Coulthard has urged F1 to up the pace while still keeping the sport safe as drivers have become 'disillusioned' with the slow speeds. In the last season under the 2.4-litre V8 engines, Nico Rosberg claimed pole position for Mercedes with a 1:20.718. Two years later, the second season using 1.6-litre V6 power units, the German was again on pole. This time with a 1:24.681. Added to that the fastest lap of the race, a 1:28.270 set by Lewis Hamilton, was two seconds slower than the fastest lap in 2013.
