Sainz delighted with 'surprise' Q3 result

Carlos Sainz admitted that he did not expect to be competing in the final qualifying session after qualifying his Toro Rosso in ninth place for the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Spanish pilot made it through to the top ten shootout for the second time in the first four races, out-qualifying his team-mate Max Verstappen in the process. Speaking to media after qualifying, Sainz conceded that he was surprised to have qualified in the top ten. 'I'm very pleased, it was probably out less expected Q3 for the year up to now,' said Sainz.
