Raikkonen heads Vettel in first Bahrain session
Scuderia Ferrari Kimi Raikkonen headed a Ferrari 1-2 during a first practice session which took place in very hot conditions in Bahrain. Raikkonen posted a 1:37.827 on the Medium tyres as the track conditions improved as the session wore on. Raikkonen's time was two-tenths of a second quicker than that achieved by Sebastian Vettel, who suffered from power unit issues during the session. Valtteri Bottas had a couple of lurid moments in the Williams FW37 but ended up in third place. Toro Rosso enjoyed a strong session as Carlos Sainz Jr. placed fourth, with Max Verstappen enjoying a spell at the top of the times before ultimately placing sixth.
