Toro Rosso left frustrated after mechanical problems

After a day that initially appeared quite promising for Toro Rosso, the Italian squad went home empty handed after a series of misfortunes struck their drivers. Starting 13th and 14th, the Toro Rosso men employed alternating strategies to tackle the Chinese Grand Prix. Max Verstappen started the race on a new set of soft tyres and emerged as one of the stars of the race, pulling off plucky overtakes on the likes of the Saubers and Sergio Perez and climbing up to 8th place. He retired with four laps to go with an engine failure, causing the cars rear wheels to lock as the Toro Rosso skewed to a halt in front of the pits.
