Disappointment all round at Williams
The Williams team could not help but show their disappointment with how their qualifying session went. Despite both drivers making it into Q3, Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas were unable to qualify higher than 7th and 9th respectively. The Williams team were hoping to spring a surprise in the final moments of qualifying after both drivers pitted late in the session to fit new intermediate tyres. Head of Performance Engineering, Rob Smedley, admitted that they were aiming to be the last drivers across the line in order to set a lap time in the driest conditions possible.
