Fernando Alonso set for health assessment
Fernando Alonso is to take part in a series of medical tests before he is given the all-clear to compete in the Malaysian Grand Prix following his accident during pre-season testing. The Spaniard was knocked unconscious in the impact at the Circuit de Catalunya and spent three nights in hospital, with doctors proceeding to advise him against competing in the Australian Grand Prix opener in Melbourne. Though Alonso has since returned to McLaren headquarters for a day driving the simulator, he will now be given a medical by the FIA to determine whether he is ready to return to action in Sepang in just under a week's time.
