FIA confirms no German Grand Prix

Lotus F1 Team The FIA's World Motor Sport Council has confirmed that the German Grand Prix has been dropped from the 2015 calendar. Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone was unable to agree a deal with either the Nurburgring or Hockenheim and consequently the race will not take place. There will not be a replacement for the race, meaning that this year's calendar will comprise 19 events. The Nurburgring had been set to host the race but talks with Ecclestone collapsed, while discussions with Hockenheim were also unsuccessful. Hockenheim provisionally holds a contract to host the race again in 2016, and also in 2018.
