Ferrari talks began in 2008 says Vettel

Sebastian Vettel on Thursday admitted his first hint of a future Ferrari deal came many years ago. In 2012, the German was in the glowing midst of his title-winning run at Red Bull, but the "dream" of one day wearing red was already strong. "In the winter between 2012 and 2013 I went in secret to Maranello to talk with (Luca di) Montezemolo," Vettel told Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport. But he said the first informal "approaches" by Stefano Domenicali had come as long ago as 2008 - when he raced for Toro Rosso - and again in 2010.
