FIA selects Formula E manufacturers
The FIA has selected the eight manufacturers that will enter the second season of the all-electric Formula E series. All ten teams currently competing in the inaugural season are using identical the Spark-Renault SRT_01E single-seaters, but the series will become an open championship for the 2015/2016 season. The FIA has selected ABT Sportsline, Andretti, Mahindra, Motomatica, NEXTEV TCR, Renault Sport, Venturi Automobiles and Virgin Racing Engineering. Each manufacturer will be allowed to develop its own in-house innovations, beginning with the development of bespoke powertrains. All teams use McLaren Electronic Systems powertrains at the moment.
