Maldonado fastest as Barcelona test begins
otus driver Pastor Maldonado topped the timesheets on the opening day of the second pre-season test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, courtesy of a late run on Pirelli's Soft compound tyre.The Venezuelan suffered two early stoppages in the E23 Hybrid, but mechanics ensured that the issues were quickly located and resolved.Having gradually risen up the order as the day wore on, Maldonado made a late switch to the yellow-banded tyre to clock a 1:25.011.That put him 0.156s clear of Kimi Räikkönen, although the Ferrari driver – who set the pace at Jerez – posted is best time on the Medium rubber.Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo was next up, mirroring Maldonado in bolting on the Soft...
