McLaren complete filming day in Barcelona
Having struggled with completing mileage at Jerez two weeks ago, McLaren used a ‘promotional purposes' day at Barcelona ahead of the second testing session. The move to use the second ‘filming day' so early in the season is likely to be strategic. Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso managed to complete only 79 laps between them at the Jerez 3 day testing session, compared to Mercedes 515 laps. The problem was mainly due to technical issues with the new Honda power unit and the Japanese manufacturer is understood to have introduced some significant engine upgrades ahead of the second pre season test.
