Vettel fastest on opening test day at Jerez

– New Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel topped the timesheets on the opening day of pre-season testing at Jerez, clocking a 1:22.620 to finish one tenth clear of Sauber's Marcus Ericsson.After a leisurely start with the new SF15-T, Vettel gradually upped his pace as the day wore on to usurp long-time leader and Mercedes rival Nico Rosberg.Vettel's best time, set on Mediums, came under threat when Ericsson bolted on Soft rubber, but a sloppy final sector left the Swede trailing by 0.157s.Rosberg thus slipped to third position, but looked serene in amassing 157 laps – more than two race distances – as Mercedes began its title-defending year.Amid pleasant weather conditions, Vettel,...
