Lauda calls for more powerful and difficult F1 cars

Although Mercedes dominated in 2014, the first year of the all new Formula 1 turbo era, team chairman Niki Lauda is keen on rules which in future will cater for 1,200 horsepower cars, with fat tyres which will be a handful to drive. Triple world champion Lauda said, 'Right now, the cars allow any F3 or GP2 driver to be fast right away, without having to take a lot of risk. You can drive these Formula 1 cars almost like a street car.' 'I want a car for the future that has 1,200 horse power, wide tyres – Formula 1 needs to be faster and more difficult, as it once was,' Lauda added. medianet_width='728'; medianet_height= '90'; medianet_crid='644602471';
