Hamilton set to become highest paid F1 driver

AP Photo/Michael Probst Lewis Hamilton could become the richest driver in Formula One should he accept the offer to extend his current Mercedes contract beyond 2015. The Briton's existing deal with the German manufacturer will expire at the end of the year, with the two parties currently in negotiations to extend the agreement. Mercedes has already issued a subdued warning that it could replace the reigning champion with Fernando Alonso or Valtteri Bottas should Hamilton fail to agree with the team's terms. Recent reports suggest that Hamilton has been offered a three-year contract for €20 million (about $23.5 million) per season with a likelihood of a €1 million bonus...
